Book and teaching resources

God’s Cosmic Cookbook presents the latest modern science alongside mainstream religious concepts in a very accessible format
Wonderfully illustrated and funny throughout, the cookbook allows God to talk readers, step-by-step, through how to make a universe of their own; starting with the Big Bang and continuing through stars, planets & slime and as far as intelligent creatures like humans.
Created in collaboration with The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion, Cambridge, this is top-notch science and theology woven seamlessly together and explained in a very readable, jargon-free way. Suitable for kids aged 8-13 (and their adults!).
Example reviews from adults and kids
‘I really enjoyed reading God’s Cosmic Cookbook. It didn’t just say God did this or that, but explained HOW He may have done it. This helped make sense of the Universe. I think it is a book for all ages.’ (Z, aged 12)
‘Fantastic educational and fun science storybook, suitable for kids and grown-ups’
‘This was super informative- and non shame-y on either side of the spectrum: secular or not. I enjoyed this, and my kids in 5th and 3rd are going to enjoy this one too! We struggle to find a balance between belief and incorporating science as well- as we believe it coexists and this fit the bill perfectly!’

Education resources for the classroom, parents and youth group leaders
God’s Cosmic Cookbook supports many key aspects of the curriculum for 8-13 year-olds, both in humanities and in the sciences, for example; our responsibilities to creation (stewardship); the way mathematics, constants and scientific rules underpin our universe; God’s ongoing interaction with creation and creatures (including us); the nature of matter and the gradual evolution of life.
Broken into 6 bite-sized sections the education resources for God’s Cosmic Cookbook allow teachers, parents and youth group leaders to use the book in a teaching or discussion-group setting with minimal preparation. The course can be applied in full or in part and offers plenty of opportunities for children and young people to explore and develop their own views.

Example book reviews from parents and teachers
‘With children from 7 to 16, I found it hard to confidently align Bible stories with the science they were taught at school. This book brings the two together beautifully and helps the reader see God as the ultimate scientist. It's packed with facts and well illustrated to help children engage. My three each got something different out of it so it works across ages (and us parents learned quite a lot too!). Definitely one to keep and refer to again and again.’
‘I’m of the belief that even high schoolers and college students can benefit from this little primer that more easily explains difficult science and physics concepts than many trained professionals.’
