God’s Cosmic Cookbook

God’s Cosmic Cookbook creative team

The aim of the God’s Cosmic Cookbook project was to present the latest scientific understanding of the whole history of our universe in the format of a child-friendly recipe narrated by God. It was always an ambitious idea and bringing the book to fruition has indeed been a huge but rewarding challenge.

A team of enthusiastic and talented people were involved; contributing scientific and theological expertise, excellent communication skills, a great sense of humour and years of publishing experience. After months and years of effort, God’s Cosmic Cookbook is something we’re all proud of…

A readable and funny children’s book presenting the latest modern science alongside sound theology.

Key contributors include:

  • author Elizabeth Cole

  • illustrator Patrick Laurent

  • The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion in Cambridge

  • Hodder & Stoughton, publishers.

Elizabeth Cole

Elizabeth Cole is a scientist who has spent much of her working life developing technologies for measuring toxic and smelly chemicals in the air and everyday products.

After becoming a Christian as a child, Elizabeth has always seen modern science every bit as much a part of God’s domain as her faith.

Mother and step-mother to four kids and now grandmother to eleven, Elizabeth lives in Gloucestershire with her husband and their cat, Monty.

Patrick Laurent

Patrick Laurent has been drawing and creating since elementary school. He still loves to start everything with a pencil sketch then add textures and finishing touches digitally.

Patrick lives in London with his wife and three kids and is originally from the cornfields in Indiana, USA. His work is inspired by the everyday ups and downs of life as well as the different adventures he goes on with his family in the city.
